There has been a confirmation from Netflix that there will be Alice in Borderland season 3. However, no official official date has been given. The confirmation was made in the fall of September 2023 but based on projections, it will be released in 2024. There is no doubt the characters of Ryōhei Arisu, Mira Kano, and Yuzuha Usagi will return to the screen.
The Japanese science fiction drama is an adaptation of the manga series of the same name which was created by Haro Aso. Its story revolves around trapped characters in an abandoned Tokyo who are forced to play a game to survive.
Is There Going to be an Alice in Borderland Season 3?
Netflix has confirmed that there will be Alice in Borderland season three. This is partly because of the success of the first and second seasons. Besides, there may be the need to explore more on the Joker card cliffhanger among several other aspects.
While a release date has not been confirmed, Alice in Borderland season 3 may be released in December 2024 – that is if it will stay true to its release processes as in seasons 1 and 2. The first season was released on December 10, 2020, and the second was released 2 years later on 22 December 2022.

What to Expect if There Will Be a Season 3
You could call this a spoiler but one expectation of season 3 of the series is that there will be more story on the Joker. It may tell more about who the Joker is.
Also, the second season’s ending may have left an opening for a possible third season even though season 2 is still complete. For instance, many Redditors think that some cast in season 2 of Alice in Borderland keep making reference to “if we meet again”, suggesting that there is going to be a continuation.
Furthermore, season two ended with some of the cast members suffering from some sort of amnesia. Hence, season three will tell more of the story. On Reddit, there are suggestions that Anna may get to remember all that happened in borderland.
Other reviews claim that despite the fact that the characters may have returned from Tokyo, they may willingly return.
There is also a likelihood of exploring new ideas to make the series even more sustainable.
The truth is, these are just suggestions. Still, there is a certainty that if Netflix brings back Alice in Borderland season 3, it will either want to continue from where it stopped in season 2 or take an interesting part of bringing new flair to a new storyline that will link to the original. Also, there may be the addition of new cast members.
Cast Members of Alice In Borderland
There are characters in Alice and Borderland that will return to the series while others will not. The main characters, Ryōhei Arisu, Yuzuha Usagi, Aguni Morizono, and Mira Kano will reappear in the third season of the franchise.
Unfortunately, the famous character of Hatter died in season 1 and may not appear in season 3 – Except in flashbacks or if the story brings him back as a ghost as it did in season 2.
Here are some major cast members of the series and a sneek peak into their personal lives and in Alice in Boderland.
Ryōhei Arisu (Played By Kento Yamazaki)
Arisu is the main character of Alice Borderland and it is played by Kento Yamazaki. In the anime, he has many demons to fight, including trying to protect himself since he’s vulnerable. He also has to fight his way with the game or lose his life like his friend. Then, he has to also deal with being ousted by his family.
He later meets Usagi and she helps him tackle selfishness, and weakness and makes him better over time in seasons 1 and 2.
Ariku’s character will return if there will be a third season.
A little look at Kento Yamazaki who played Ariku, he is a 29-year-old Japanese actor and model with roles in other films such as L DK (2014), No Longer Heroine (2015), Orange (2015), and Kingdom (2019), as well as the TV shows Death Note (2015), Kiss That Kills (2018), and Good Doctor (2018).
Yuzuha Usagi (Played By Tao Tsuchiya)
Tao Tsuchiya’s real life is that of a model and actress but as Yuzuha Usagi in Alice in Borderland, she plays the role of a determined person. She is willing to go through the hurdles of Tokyo Borderland.
Beyond that, she helps the character of Arisu and plays the game that will either kill or keep them alive and back home. One of the most notable things she has done is to help Arisu be more confident over time.
Takeru Danma/Hatter (Played By Nobuaki Kaneko)
43-year-old Nobuaki Kaneko keeps himself as a diversified entertainer with a career as an actor and drummer. Putting his career as an actor, he brings the character of Takeru Danma, also known as Hatter to life in Alice in Boderland. His role gives another definition to the characterization that brings the franchise to life. He is the leader of one of the secrets of the Beach society. At first, Hatter does not seem all that harmless as he becomes interested in establishing his utopia.
However, he creates a false method to keep the Borderland at a certain level. Unfortunately, he dwells in his own falsehood that the lies reflect as truth in his mirror and vice versa.
As he continues to rule the Boderland in ways that seem more complicated and without remorse, he gets himself killed by his closest friend, Aguni Morizono (Sho Aoyagi).
His death in season 1 is not totally the end of his character as his ghost appears in season 2 during some events. Except his spirit is shut and a tweak in the storyline in season 3, there may be chances of his showing up again.
Unfortunately, there won’t be Hatter’s character in season three – except if his ghost will still hang around!
Aguni Morizono (Played By Sho Aoyagi)
Sho Aoyagi gives a breath of life to Aguni Morizono’s character. He is tough, relentless, and loyal to his friends. While this is noticeable about him, his character is molded by his past of being raised by an alcoholic and abusive father and a mother who abandons him along the way.
He meets Hatter and the two form a strong bond while he also helps Gatter establish his utopia. The twist and another depth to this is that he kills his friend Hatter. Haunted by guilt, he struggles through time despite Hatter’s ghost urging him to move on.
In season 2, he is able to make it out of Borderlands and the land of games into the real world. He wakes up in a hospital bed unconscious and not having a memory of the past.
If season 3 will hold on to the continuation of this story, Aguni will definitely return to the screen and his character will be explored further.
Away from being Aguni in Alice in Borderland, Sho Aoyagi is a Japanese actor known for roles in Good Bye (2018), Road To Hight & Low (2016), Mr. Long (2017), Last of the Wolves (2021), and Tyida (2022).
Mira Kano (Played By Riisa Naka)
In Borderland as others play the game toward survival and have seen their loved ones die along the way, the character of Mira presents herself as an antagonist with no remorse.
Mira is the Queen of Hearts. She is manipulative, a skilled liar, and keeps to herself most of the time. In a life away from Borderland, she is a psychiatrist and neuroscientist.
She comes up more as a mystery woman and the last enemy of Arisu and Usagi in the Borderlands. However, she finds Arisu and Usagi’s love genuine and she helps them with the last game that returns them home.
Based on projections from viewers, there is more story to be told about Mira’s character, her place in the game, and being the Queen of Hearts in season 3.
